As a senior in 2023, was named the school's Male Athlete of the Year, VC Star All-County Second Team, Tri-County League Pitcher of the Year and first-team all-league, and the team MVP. Went 4-0 with a 0.96 ERA in 36 1/3 innings with 70 strikeouts.
Threw a no-hitter on April 18, 2023, tossing seven innings with 15 strikeouts and one walk.
As a junior in 2022, was named the Ventura County Pitcher of the Year, Tri-County League Pitcher of the Year, first team all-league and team MVP. Went 6-2 with a 0.95 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings.
As a sophomore in 2021, was a Tri-County League Honorable Mention pick. Went 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA on varsity, striking out 17 in 16 innings.
Played high school baseball with GCU teammate Walt Quinn. Other recent Grace Brethren alums include former Lopes Pierson Ohl, Carson Ohl and Josh Buckley.
Played club for So Cal Giants Scout Team.

Parents are Johnny and Denise Watkins.
Mother, Denise (nee Swank), played softball at CSUN from 1990-93. She led the Matadors in runs scored (32) and stolen bases (11) in 1991. Remains fourth in career assists (439) in program history. Cites his mother as the biggest influence on his baseball career.
Off the court, enjoys fishing and dirt bike riding.
Enjoys watching ESPN documentaries about Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter.
Favorite pro sports team is the New York Yankees.
Favorite athletes to watch growing up include Derek Jeter, Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.
