Grand Canyon women's tennis head coach
Katarina Adamovic is stepping down from her position to accept a head coaching position in the Big 12 Conference.
A national search to find GCU's next women's tennis head coach is underway.
Adamovic took the Lopes to the NCAA Tournament in both of her seasons leading the program. GCU won the 2023 WAC Tournament and followed it up by winning both the conference's regular season and tournament titles in 2024.
The women's tennis program continued a tradition of winning under Adamovic. The Lopes had six WAC titles upon Adamovic's arrival on campus and added three more during her two seasons.
"Two years ago, we identified Kat as an exceptional leader with tremendous ability as a first-time head coach," GCU Vice President of Athletics Jamie Boggs said. "She quickly delivered on the vision for the GCU women's tennis program and elevated it to national competitiveness. We wish her the best in her new role, and we are working expeditiously to find the program's next leader who will continue to build off of the program's success."
Adamovic departs GCU with a 37-13 overall record and a 13-3 mark in WAC play. The Lopes had their best season in program history in 2024, entering the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top-100 rankings and landing at No. 57 to end the season.
Adamovic is returning to the conference that she competed in as a student-athlete at Oklahoma State.
The Lopes are set to compete in the WAC for one final season in the 2024-25 academic year before transitioning to the West Coast Conference on July 1, 2025.
