GCU, CBU enter weekend tied as Lopes look to extend 11-game win streak against Utah Tech

Grand Canyon hosts a home weekend series for the first time in April, welcoming in Utah Tech for a three-game set that begins on Friday at 7 p.m. at GCU Ballpark.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

WAC RACE: The calendar is nearing May and the conference race is beginning to round into from. Still with five WAC series remaining, the Lopes enter the weekend tied with California Baptist for the lead in the conference standings at 11-4. One game back of the Lopes and Lancers is both Abilene Christian and Utah Valley, 10-5 teams who GCU has remaining on its schedule.
WILSON'S MILESTONE: GCU senior left fielder Tyler Wilson reached the 200-hit milestone in Wednesday's game against Washington State. Wilson became just the seventh GCU player to accumulate 200 hits at the Division I level.
CONFERENCE RANKS: In conference play, GCU ranks first in the WAC in batting average (.332) and on-base percentage (.392) while ranking second in earned run average (3.50).

SCOUTING UTAH TECH

Utah Tech has lost eight of its last nine games entering the weekend. The Trailblazers dropped two of three games in a home series against Tarleton State. At 7-11, Utah Tech holds conference series wins over Sacramento State (mid march in St. George) and at Seattle U (late march).

The Trailblazers rank 10th in the conference in both batting average (.247) and earned run average (7.90). Utah Tech is tied for the WAC lead in sacrifice bunts.
