Win or tie clinches WAC Tournament bye for Lopes

The Lopes are headed to Orem, Utah, with a WAC regular-season title on the line at Utah Valley, which is on an eight-match winning streak.

The Lopes enter Monday's match at 5-0 in conference play after beating Seattle U on Thursday 1-0.
The winner of Monday's match locks up the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament and a share of the WAC regular-season title.
GCU is ending the WAC season with four straight on the road, finishing this week with road trips to Utah Valley on Monday and California Baptist on Saturday.
Lopes senior forward Mayu Yamamoto scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute at Seattle U on Thursday.
GCU is the only WAC team to win at Seattle U since 2019, doing so three times since then.
Lopes senior goalkeeper DeAira Jackson has accumulated seven shutouts this season, tying her season total from last season.
Jackson tied the GCU all-time shutout record at 14. She set the mark in less than two seasons.
The Lopes are 11-1-1 when they score at least one goal.
GCU senior midifelder Bella Piete received WAC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9 (Oct. 7-13).
Piete scored and assisted a goal in the first half of the win over Southern Utah on Oct. 11.
Junior midfielder AJ Loera leads the Lopes in assists with four.
GCU has 15 different goal scorers and 14 players with an assist through the first 16 matches.
The 15 different goal scorers is the most by GCU in its 12-year D-I era. The number also leads the WAC this season.

GCU beat Seattle U 1-0 on Thursday in Seattle.
The Lopes won their fifth straight match, their longest win streak of the season.

Utah Valley's eight-match winning streak is tied for the third longest active streak in the nation behind Duke's 12 and Mississippi State's 10.
The Wolverines are averaging 4.0 goals per match during the winning streak, which began Sept. 15 at Gonzaga.
This is the 23rd all-time meeting between Utah Valley and GCU, with the Wolverines holding a 13-7-2 advantage in results.
GCU last played Utah Valley in Riverside, California, on Nov. 1, 2023, when the Lopes won 2-1 to clinch a spot in the WAC Tournament championship match.
Utah Valley senior Faith Webber ranks fourth in the nation with 14 goals. She is fifth nationally in points with 30.
Wolverines goalkeeper CJ Graham has 45 saves on the season with a .682 save percentage.

GCU concludes the regular season by traveling to California Baptist for a 7 p.m. Saturday match.
