The GCU duo was dominant in two road matches last week at Tarleton and Abilene Christian. Puehse and Strombacha defeated Tarleton's top pair, Martha Makantasi and Elsa Boisson, 6-1 to open the weekend. On Sunday against the Wildcats, the GCU top pair picked up a 6-3 win to start a 6-1 GCU win. Puehse and Strombacha now sit at 14-3 and 6-1 in WAC play from the No. 1 doubles position.
With one game left in the regular season, Puehse and Strombacha could tie the GCU Division I-era single-season record of 15 doubles wins, set in 2021. The GCU duo is on pace to break its Division I-era program record of an .813 winning percentage from last season when it went 13-3.
The Lopes will wrap up the regular season this weekend at New Mexico State on Sunday.
