Grand Canyon takes its final weekend pause from WAC play for its only four-game weekend of the season. Returning to San Diego State's Tony Gwynn Stadium for the first time since 2018, the Lopes will face the host Aztecs twice and play two neutral-site games against No. 7 Stanford.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- BALANCED BASEBALL:Â GCU has found a winning formula, logging 16 wins in its last 20 tries. That formula includes hitting and pitching. After ranking in the nation's top 40 for batting average and ERA last year, the Lopes upped the ante this year and rank in the top 25 in both categories. GCU's .303 hitting ranks 25th and its 3.92 ERA ranks 23rd.
 - NATION'S RESPECT: For the second straight week, the Lopes appear in two national polls and are receiving consideration in two more. GCU jumped up to No. 16 in Perfect Game's poll and fell back one spot to No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. The Lopes are receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll and are in D1Baseball.com's consideration for its top-25 poll.
 - ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Lopes are back in the Golden State for their third trip this year. GCU had an early-season seven-game trip to California, dropping two games to UC Irvine before closing out the trip with five straight wins over UC Irvine, UC San Diego and California Baptist. The Lopes took two of three from Sacramento State last month. GCU takes its 7-3 California record into this weekend, when it will play four times before continuing a season-long nine-game stretch of road games in New Mexico and Utah.
SCOUTING
San Diego State is on track to post its first losing season since 2016. The Aztecs feature an uncharacteristic 10-27 record, including a 4-17 mark at home.
The Aztecs struggles have come in the batter's box. A respectable 4.91 team ERA is among the nation's 100 best, but San Diego State bats just .253 and is among the country's bottom 40 teams in scoring at 4.8 runs per game. Sophomore Cole Carrigg is San Diego State's lone qualifying hitter batting over .300, but the Turlock, California, native is well over .300 at .371.
San Diego State gained some momentum with a three-game sweep of GCU's next opponent, New Mexico, in Albuquerque over the weekend. The Aztecs dropped a pair of midweek contests to San Diego and UC San Diego.
Stanford marks the third top-10 opponent on GCU's schedule. The Cardinal check in at No. 7 in the latest D1Baseball.com poll, sporting a 21-11 record with an 11-7 mark in Pac-12 play. Stanford is coming off a trip to Omaha last year.
The strength of the Cardinal comes on the mound with a pitching staff that ranks 18th nationally with a 3.79 ERA. Stanford is tied for the nation's lead with seven shutout victories on the season.Â
Stanford took two of three games from then-No. 12 UCLA last weekend and won its midweek matchup with Cal Poly.
WHAT'S NEXT
A season-long span of nine games away from GCU Ballpark continues. The Lopes play a midweek matchup at New Mexico on Tuesday before resuming WAC play at Utah Valley.Â
