The Grand Canyon women's tennis team released its dual-match spring schedule that features nine matches at GCU Tennis Facility and a trio of NCAA tournament teams for opponents.
Â
The 20-match schedule for new GCU head coach
Katarina Adamovic will begin across town in Tempe on Jan. 14 against Arizona State, which won an NCAA tournament match last year. The first home match of the season will take place the next day against UC San Diego before the Lopes head to Arizona to wrap up the opening weekend.
Â
After a quick two-match road trip, the Lopes will be back home for five straight matches from Feb. 26 to March 19, a stretch that features the start of conference play. After facing Weber State, Air Force and New Mexico, WAC play will begin against Seattle U and Utah Tech on March 17 and 19, respectively, at the GCU Tennis Facility.
Â
WAC play is longer than ever before with nine matches, the most since the Lopes joined the conference in 2014. GCU is 14-1 in WAC matches since 2019.
Â
Road conference matches at UT Rio Grande Valley and UT Arlington will proceed the final homestand against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston on March 31 and April 2, respectively. The regular season will conclude with matches at Tarleton, Abilene Christian and New Mexico State.
Â
The WAC Tournament will be in Texas for the second straight season with conference newcomer UT Arlington hosting from April 27-29.
