BOISE, Idaho – The Grand Canyon men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend in Idaho with a 7-0 loss to Boise State.

In doubles, Boise State (2-0) took the early 1-0 lead with wins at the bottom two positions. GCU newcomers
Wolmar Boris-Moller and
Loic Van Zeggelaar lost 6-1 at No. 3 while the Lopes'
Justin Cvitanovic and
Jonathan Da Silva lost 6-4 at No. 2. GCU's
Valentin Lang and
Jiri Novak, fresh off a win against Montana on Saturday, had their match unfinished with a 5-4 lead at No. 1.

In singles, the Broncos jumped out to an early advantage by taking five of six first sets. Lang, at No. 1, took his first set 6-4 but went on to drop the next two sets 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2, Cvitanovic dropped a close first set 7-5 and then fell in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5). The Lopes (0-6) were competitive in matches near the bottom of the lineup.

Da Silva lost his first set 6-4 but battled in the second set, taking it to a tiebreaker and losing 7-6 (7-1). Boris-Moller had a similar match losing his first set 6-2 and also went to a tiebreaker, losing 7-6 (7-2).

The Lopes will enjoy a week off before going crosstown to Arizona State for a midweek match on Feb. 3.
