The Grand Canyon men's soccer team named senior
Justin Rasmussen and junior
Esai Easley as captains for the 2020-21 team, head coach
Schellas Hyndman announced this week.
Rasmussen, a forward from Las Vegas, and Easley, a defender from Kona, Hawaii, were chosen by Hyndman for their leadership abilities shown on and off the field. Rasmussen was the leading scorer for the Lopes last season and was named an All-WAC honorable mention. He started 16 matches for the Lopes, scoring six goals and recording two assists for 14 points as a junior. Rasmussen has been a part of the GCU Leadership Council since his freshman year. He also was named to the Academic All-WAC team last season.

Easley has been a regular starter for GCU since his freshman season. He was also named a 2019 All-WAC honorable mention with 15 starts for the Lopes. Easley earned multiple WAC awards as a sophomore, including being named the WAC Student-Athlete of the Month and the WAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in GCU's win over Oregon State. He has also been a member of the GCU Leadership Council since his freshman year and was named to Academic All-WAC last season.
