The Grand Canyon men's tennis team swept the WAC Player of the Week awards on Tuesday. Senior
Mathieu Rajaonah was named the WAC Singles Player of the Week and WAC Doubles Player of the Week with junior partner
Lorenzo Fucile.
In singles, the senior from Marseille, France, took home a win against nationally ranked UCLA. Rajaonah won in straight sets against UCLA's Patrick Zahraj, as the Lopes fought hard in a 4-2 defeat.
In the same match, GCU jumped out early taking the doubles point against UCLA thanks to the No. 1 doubles pair of Rajaonah and Fucile. The duo extended their undefeated record to 7-0 and clinched the point, winning 6-4 over Zaharaj and Bryce Pereira.
Rajaonah, Fucile and the rest of the Lopes will have another busy weekend ahead of them when they travel to Sacramento, Calif., for the three-match Golden State Invitational on Friday through Sunday. The Lopes will look to defend their title from 2018.
