For the second straight week, Grand Canyon sophomore pitcher
Ryan Denhart is the WAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The right-hander has been honored twice since joining the Lopes (21-13) from Maryland this season.
Â
A native of Los Alamitos, Calif., Denhart (7-3) went 2-0 on the weekend in a three-game series sweep over Utah Valley. She held an ERA of 0.00, allowing just one unearned run and six hits in 13 innings pitched.Â
Â
She claimed six strikeouts in two appearances and allowed no walks to the Wolverines. In her first appearance on Friday, Denhart held Utah Valley hitless through six full innings before shutting down the Wolverines offense for the 2-0 shutout.
Â
Denhart and the Lopes take to the road for the first conference trip of the season this weekend. GCU faces California Baptist in a three-game series, starting Friday night at 5:30 p.m. (Phoenix time).
