For the second time since joining the WAC, the Grand Canyon women's tennis team will welcome all five conference opponents to the GCU Tennis Facility for the first WAC cluster of the season.
The teams will compete in matches from Friday through Sunday, consisting of five neutral-site matches and three home GCU matches.
The Lopes will face Seattle U (5-7) at noon Friday, Kansas City (3-8) at noon Saturday and New Mexico State (6-5) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Three matches will be played Friday and Saturday each with the final two matches taking place at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The conferencs matches expect to be some of the most highly competitive ones of the season. The Aggies and Cougars each has the most nonconference wins with six, followed closely by the Lopes and the Redhawks with five apiece. Reigning WAC champion Kansas City and 2018 conference tournament runner-up UTRGV sit at three wins each.
The Lopes have the hottest team, riding a three-match winning streak heading into the weekend. GCU defeated Idaho State 4-3 on Tuesday, when they wrapped up nonconference play with a comeback win. The Bengals took an early 1-0 lead after doubles but the Lopes' top four singles players each won to complete the comeback.
