LOS ANGELES — The Grand Canyon men's tennis team will play at No. 14 UCLA for the second straight year on Tuesday.
GCU (6-2) is coming off a 6-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara, snapping a five-match winning streak. Despite the loss, the Lopes still have strong individual stats led by senior
Lucas Grego, who is now 8-0 in singles. In doubles the top pair of senior
Mathieu Rajaonah and junior
Lorenzo Fucile remain 6-0 after their match was left unfinished against UCSB.
The Lopes and Bruins met last year in the season opener for GCU. UCLA, ranked No. 6 at the time, defeated GCU 7-0 for its second win of a historic 30-3 season with a Final Four appearance.
The Bruins now sit at 4-4 on the season and are in the midst of a three-match losing streak after losses at the ITA Indoor Championships and to USC. As a result of those losses, the team dropped from No. 7 to No. 14 in the new ITA rankings. This year's UCLA team features seven incoming freshmen and six returnees who competed against GCU last season.
The match starts at 2 p.m. with live stats available.
