ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Tying the Grand Canyon record for the men's high jump wasn't enough for
Chris Linnin Jr., on Saturday at the New Mexico Team Challenge. The senior high jumper finally topped the 2.05-meter GCU record with a 2.07-meter jump to stand alone as the record holder.
The 2.07-meter leap sets an indoor mark, but
Josh Ralston's 2015 high jump of 2.06 meters stands as the outdoor school record.
GCU redshirt freshman
Trey Johnson won the long jump in his collegiate debut. The Tolleson, Ariz., native jumped 7.37 meters on his first attempt to win the event.
Junior
Paige Hildebrandt ran the miles in 5 minutes, 4.97 seconds at 5,000-feet elevation. That time ranks second in the WAC after altitude adjustment puts it at 4:58.33.
Freshman
Landon Rast ran the top WAC time in the mile with a 4:14.45 altitude-adjusted time.
Senior
Daniel Flores ran 4:17.01 (altitude adjusted) in the mile after running 1:54.75 (altitude adjusted) in the 800-meter race.

Shanice Lewis chipped more time off her 60-meter hurdles time with an 8.50 time, her new WAC top mark.

William Winfield IV ran the 60 hurdles in 8.08 to also rank first in the WAC.
Knowledge Omovoh also continued to improve in the 400, placing second in 55.85.

Latoya Gilding and
Courtney Logan threw 14.55 and 14.39 meters, respectively, in the shot put.
The Lopes return to Flagstaff on Feb. 1-2 to compete at Northern Arizona's Mountain T's Invite.
