The Grand Canyon swimming team plays host for a second consecutive week when the Lopes compete against Loyola Marymount and fellow WAC member Seattle U this weekend.
The GCU men will compete against Seattle U while the women will face Seattle U and Loyola Marymount.Â
The two-day meet will take place on Friday, starting at 2 p.m., and Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. All events will be held at the Fr. Edward A. Reese Aquatic Center on the campus of Brophy College Preparatory.Â
This weekend will mark the fourth consecutive season that these three programs have met.Â

The Seattle U men's team won its first meet of the season, defeating Division III member Pacific Lutheran 146.50-39.50. Seattle U won all 11 events at the meet, highlighted by junior
Shawn Fujii winning the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.66), 100 butterfly (51.57) and contributing to a win in the 200 medley relay (1:37.21).
The Seattle U women's team lost its opener to Northern Colorado 179-65 and defeated Pacific Lutheran 126-79. Sophomore
Allison Plamondon and junior
Julia Gorman led the way for the Redhawks over Pacific Lutheran as Plamondon won the 50 freestyle (25.08) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.94), while Gorman had first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:01.80) and the 500 freestyle (5:32.75). The pair also contributed to a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.05).Â
The Loyola Marymount women's team fell to Pepperdine in the season opener at the Malibu Invite 1,131-959. Senior
Isabel Willis won the 200 freestyle (1:56.79), while contributing to second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.89), 400 medley relay (4:10.35) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:46.43). JuniorÂ
Lanna Kozlowski won the 1,000 freestyle (10:50.75) for the Lions while also contributing to the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.Â
