PHOENIX – Grand Canyon women's tennis is set to close out its Western Athletic Conference schedule on the road in Chicago, Ill. with two matches. The Lopes will take on UT Rio Grande Valley and Missouri-Kansas City in their final conference matches of the season.
Depth has been proven key for the Lopes this season, as four players have recorded double-digit wins this year in
Susan Baklini,
Lana Macukat,
Tatum Prudhomme and
Lana Rinaldi. Having played all her matches on Court 1, Prudhomme leads GCU this season in singles, with 11 victories and is currently on a three-match winning streak.
Prudhomme and Baklini have also found success in doubles play as the Lopes' top duo with 11 wins on Court 1, the most from any GCU tandem this season. The "Lana" duo,
Lana Macukat and
Lana Rinaldi are right behind Prudhomme and Baklini in wins with 10, primarily on Court 3.
Similar to last year, GCU will once again face UTRGV and UMKC on back-to-back days. The Lopes defeat the Vaqueros 5-2 last year and then swept the Roos 7-0. GCU currently sits in a tie for second place in the WAC with UT Rio Grande Valley at 2-1.
