Lopes host final home match of the season

PHOENIX – For the final time this season, the GCU wrestling team will compete in front of its home fans as they host North Dakota State. The Lopes will host the Bison at Antelope Gymnasium and honor its two seniors Chayse Jackson and Austin Trujillo.

The senior duo have combined for three victories this season as Jackson battled in the 149-pound contest and Trujillo wrestled at 184-pounds. Jackson graduated on Dec. 11, 2015 during Grand Canyon's fall commencement ceremony with a degree in biology. Trujillo, a native of Greeley, Colo., will graduate in May with a degree in sports management.

Lately the Lopes have been led by Kenny Moore and Daniel Chaid as the two combined for a perfect 17-0 record in the month of January. Chaid went 8-0 to start the New Year, competing in the 285-pound match while Moore has been the most consistent wrestler for GCU all season. Moore leads GCU this season with 14 victories and in January record a perfect 9-0 month, the first time he has achieved a perfect month since he has been at Grand Canyon.
