PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon women's tennis team will host its second straight match at the Paseo Racquet Center. GCU will host Western New Mexico for just one match this week as they look climb back to .500 this season.
Grand Canyon is coming off a loss at the hands of Princeton, who was ranked No. 43 in the nation. In the two victories GCU has had this season, they have swept both Colorado State and UC Riverside 7-0. So far this season
Susan Baklini leads GCU in victories this season during singles play with a 4-1 record with every victory coming on court three.
Lana Macukat,
Alexandra Petrzalkova and
Tatum Prudhomme are right behind Baklini in victories this season each with three victories this season.
GCU has found its success in doubles play this season posting a 75 percent winning percentage with nine victories as a team. Leading the way is Baklini and Prudhomme posting a perfect 5-0 record this season as the Lopes' number one duo.
The Lopes will face Western New Mexico for the second straight year. GCU defeated Western New Mexico last season 7-0.
For the first time this season, the Grand Canyon men's tennis team will host a home match at the Paseo Racquet Club. As GCU looks to get back to its winning ways, the men will also host Western New Mexico.
After being on the road for the first month of the season, Grand Canyon will finally have the opportunity to play in front of its fans as five of their six matches in February will be played at home. GCU will host Western New Mexico for the second straight season as the Lopes defeated the Mustangs 7-0 last season.
