Box Score (PDF)OREM – The Grand Canyon women's soccer team began its final roadtrip of the season in Orem to take on Utah Valley. The Antelopes fell behind early in the first half and were not able to recover as the Lopes fell to the Wolverines 3-1. GCU is now 6-7-2 this season and 3-2-1 in the WAC.

"Utah Valley came out to play today and we looked very flat in the first half," head coach Stevie Gill said. "We came out in the second half as a completely different team and competed very well."

GCU struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the first 45 minutes of play as Utah Valley controlled possession in the first half with nine shots. UVU scored early in the 12
th minute from Kasandra Anderson to take a 1-0 lead. Utah Valley continued to press on offense scoring in the 21
st minute off a goal from Taylor Kirk. Right before the half ended Jamie Brown extended UVU's lead to 3-0 in the 38
th minute to go into halftime.

Grand Canyon's offense picked up in the second with the ability to play more on UVU's side of the field. The Lopes attempted five shots in the second half by five different players. The Lopes jumped on the scoreboard in the 86
th minute as McKenzie Cook scored her second goal of the season. After going back-and-forth, Cook received the ball from Rebecca Pousma frm 35-yards out and put a strike on the ball going far post, to cut the lead to 3-1. Nineteen players saw action against the Wolverines for the Lopes, looking to keep legs fresh on the final roadtrip of the season. With the assist, Pousma records her first career point at GCU. Â

"I was very proud of the way the girls fought back in the second half and got a late goal," Gill said. "The great thing that we have another crack at UVU at home next week."

The Lopes will play their final road match of the season this Sunday, Oct. 18, against Seattle. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Championship Field.Â
