The Grand Canyon University women's soccer team makes the short trip up I-17 for a pair of games this weekend at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The Lopes (0-3-1) will open the weekend with a game on Friday at 5 p.m. against Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds (1-3-1) have played two WAC schools to begin the season, dropping Bakersfield 5-0 on Aug.31 in Cedar City, Utah for their lone win of the campaign, while suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Utah Valley on Sept. 8 in Orem.
GCU will then square off against NAU on Sunday at 1 p.m. Last season the Lopes and Lumberjacks waged a spirited battle that saw NAU edge out a 1-0 victory. The Jacks enter the contest with a 1-3-1 record. They picked up a win on Sept. 7, downing South Dakota 3-2.
