Perfect Weekend Propels Legarreta to WAC Honor

Grand Canyon University's Adrian Legarreta has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for Feb. 17-23, as announced by the conference office.
Legarreta, a freshman from Bilbao, Spain, went 4-0 combined in singles and doubles, helping Grand Canyon to a 2-0 weekend, also improving their overall record to 4-3.
Legarreta earned two wins at No. 3 singles, defeating St. Francis' Anders Sandberg (6-2, 6-3) and Chicago State's Uros Pajic (6-1, 6-0). Along with his partner Nicolas Moulin, Legarreta picked up two wins at No. 2 doubles.
The honor is the first for the men's squad this season.
Grand Canyon will travel to Edinburg, Tex. for a pair of matches this weekend. They will face Texas Pan American on Feb. 28 and Kansas City on March 1.
