The Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s track and field teams today competed in their final meet before the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on May 23-25 in Pueblo, Colo. The Antelopes participated in a number of events at the Azusa Pacific Last Chance Qualifier in Azusa, Calif., picking up a number of NCAA Division II Automatic and Provisional Qualifying marks on both the men's and women's side.
Dario Horvat posted yet another automatic time in the men’s 100-meter dash at 10.20 seconds en route to winning the event and breaking the Croatian National record. The record had stood since 2001. He owns the fastest time among NCAA Division II athletes at 10.18 seconds, but the wind factor associated with that time does not count for record purposes (over 2.0).
Lauren Graham picked up the best women’s pole vault for GCU this season with a mark of 4.02 meters (13 feet, 2.25 inches), the fifth-best in the country.
Kevin Lashley won the men’s long jump with an automatic mark of 7.66 meters (25 feet, 1.75 inches), the third-longest in the nation.

Samantha Bogatz added a provisional mark in the women’s 200-meter dash at 23.93 seconds. Bogatz already owns an automatic mark in the event (23.75 seconds).
Tyler Sipes placed second in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with an automatic time of 14.04 seconds, but the wind speed at 3.2 m/s will not allow for the mark to count. Sipes already owns the third-best time in the country at 13.89 seconds, an automatic qualifier.
In the women’s 100-meter hurdles,
Maria Kropf collected a provisional time of 14.31 seconds.
