The 13
th-ranked Grand Canyon University men’s tennis team wrapped up their three-day three-match road trip with an 8-1 loss to second-ranked Barry today in Austin, Tex.
GCU is now 12-6, while Barry improved to 19-0.
The Antelopes fell behind 3-0 after the doubles round, losing all three matches 8-3.
Ramon Abaitua picked up his second straight singles win and fifth in his last six matches with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph in the No. 6 spot. He has only dropped four games in his last two match victories.
Ahmad Saleem took the first set 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match, but fell 6-2, 6-2 in the next two sets.
Grand Canyon will return to action on April 16 when they face BYU-Hawai’i in Laie, Hawai’i. The Antelopes will remain on island of Oahu for the PacWest Championships which begin on April 18.
