The Grand Canyon University men’s tennis team opened their weekend stay in Colorado with a 9-0 win over CSU-Pueblo at the Pueblo City Park in Pueblo, Colo.
The men improve to 7-3 overall and will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Colorado Mesa.
“I’m very proud at how our guys played today,” said head coach Greg Prudomme. “We had to adjust to the altitude early. The balls were flying and we had some big serves coming at us. The guys all made great adjustments. It was a great start to our weekend here in Pueblo.
Yann Kaelin played in the closest match of the day, needing a 10-8 match tiebreak to win in the third to win at No.2 singles.
Felix Schueller won in straight sets at No. 1, winning 7-0 in the second set tiebreaker.
In all, GCU only dropped one set during the nine matches.
