The Grand Canyon University men’s tennis team won for the second straight day in Colorado, knocking off Colorado Mesa 6-3 at the Pueblo City Park in Pueblo, Colo.
The men improve to 8-3 overall and will be back in action tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against Metro State. The ‘Lopes swept Metro State 9-0 on Feb. 7 in Glendale, Ariz.
“The guys played great for the second straight day on the road,” said head coach Greg Prudomme. “
Ahmad Saleemhighlighted our day with his win at No. 3 singles. The guys kept the momentum from yesterday going and we want to wrap up this weekend tomorrow with one more win.”
GCU’s
Felix Schueller and
Alexander Roggenkamp won at No. 2 doubles, while
Meidy Chazeau and
Yann Kaelin took the No. 3 doubles, to grab an early 2-1 edge in the match.
GCU captured four of the six singles points, winning the No. 3 through 6 matches.
Andrew Mayer, at No. 6, rallied from a set down to win 7-6 in the second set and 10-6 in the match tiebreak.
