For the third straight day the Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s teams fell at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The men lost 8-1 to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic, while the women were defeated 8-1 by No. 4 Armstrong Atlantic.
The men, Ranked No. 15 in the nation, and women, ranked No. 13 in the nation, both now stand at 9-5 overall for the season.
"It's definitely disappointing to lose three matches on this road trip, but we are determined to make adjustments and improve from these matches,” said head coach Greg Prudhomme. “It can be a bit risky to the win/loss record to schedule so many top teams in the country but this is the exposure we need to become a top team."
The lone winner for the GCU men’s team today was
Peter Kazianschuetz. Kazianschuetz won 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles round. He has now won nine-straight singles matches.
The lone winner on the women’s side was
Cecilia Vergnet. Vergnet picked up her sixth-straight win with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 decision in the No. 6 singles round.
The women will be next be in action on March 23 when they host Montana at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz. Both the men and women will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for three matches beginning with a contest against Valdosta State on April 5.
