The Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s tennis teams continued their winning ways, both sweeping Colorado Mesa 9-0 at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz.
“The tennis teams put in a dominant performance today with their win against Colorado Mesa University,” said head coach Greg Prudhomme. “This was a team that we were losing to only a couple of years ago. It's great to see how far we have come in this short period. Everybody played well and should have built some strong momentum going into our road trip this week.”
The men, ranked No. 15 in the nation and No. 1 in the West Region, won 9-0 for second consecutive match and improved their record to 9-2.
Frederic Schoelzel set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles spot.
Bastien Tonus ran his win streak to nine with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 5 singles match.
The men’s sweep in the doubles round raised their record to 28-5 this season.
The women, ranked No.13 in the nation and No. 3 in the West Region, won for the third-straight match and are now 9-2.
