The No. 14 Grand Canyon University women’s tennis team picked up a huge win over No. 17 UC San Diego, 7-2, today at Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale, Ariz.
GCU entered the match ranked No.3 in the West Region, while UCSD came in at No. 4. Only three teams from the West Region will make it to the NCAA Championships.
“Another great day at the courts for GCU Tennis,” said head coach Greg Prudhomme. “The women had a great win today against a tough UCSD team. The girls worked hard and earned all of the seven matches and nearly won the other two matches. The girls were really tested today and they passed with flying colors. I'm very proud of their fight and efforts; especially since it was their fifth match in four days.”
The Antelopes, now 4-1, swept the doubles round to take a commanding 3-0 lead. No. 8

The No. 21 Grand Canyon University men’s tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season with an 8-1 win over Montana State Billings at the Paseo Racquet Center.
“The men did a fine job of bouncing back from their big high last night,” said Prudhomme. “Sometimes it’s difficult to regroup and focus the day after a tough loss or big win, but they did it. We spent time making sure they were mentally ready for the match and earned convincing singles and doubles wins.”
The Antelopes changed up their lineup a bit and saw a two-win day for
Kevin Anderson. Anderson teamed with
Stephane Murray to pick up an 8-1 win in the No.2 doubles slot. He then returned to the court to win the No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.
