The Grand Canyon University baseball team dropped a pair to Dixie State today, 6-2 and 5-2, at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah. The losses eliminate the Antelopes from contention for the conference title.
GCU’s overall record falls to 20-22, 15-15 in the Pacific West Conference. Dixie State strengthened their hold on first place in the conference, improving to 26-13 overall and 21-9 in the PacWest.
Grand Canyon jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning of the opener after Tyler Bair’s two-run single.
The Red Storm answered back, tying the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning and a four-run seventh inning.
Brady Wager (5-5) started and took the loss for the Antelopes. He allowed four runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings.
GCU stranded 11 runners on base in the game.
Dixie State started quickly in the nightcap, owning a 3-0 lead after the first inning and a 5-0 lead after three innings.

Cody Repenning (4-3) was roughed up for five runs in the three innings, allowing six hits in taking the loss.
Grand Canyon broke up the shutout bid when Colin Courtland hit a 2-1 offering over the centerfield wall for his second home run of the season. It was the eighth home run of the season by an Antelopes player.
