The Cougars’ men’s team beat the Antelopes, 7-2. GCU's No. 1 doubles team of Frederic Schoelzel (Gevelsberg, Germany, Gymnasium Hagen HS, Northwood University) and Stephane Murray (Paris, France, Notre Dame Le Menimur HS, Anderson University) defeated Janosch Apelt and Jochem Hoefnagels, but the 'Lopes' Nos. 2 and 3 doubles teams lost tough matches, 9-8 (7-5) and 8-3.
In singles, No. 1 Schoelzel was the only winner for GCU. Azusa Pacific's No. 2 player, Hoefnagels, lost the first set to the ‘Lopes’ No. 2 player, Murray, but came back and won the final two sets to win the match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
With the loss, GCU's men’s tennis team fell to 5-5 on the season. Azusa Pacific improved to 7-2 overall, 5-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
