This night belonged to the Antelopes.
Grand Canyon beat Westminster College, 17-9, in the Baggataway Cup opener Friday night at GCU Lacrosse Stadium. The three-team weekend tournament continues Saturday at GCU when Westminster meets Dominican at 1 p.m.
It was GCU's first win at home in the program's two-year history.
"The key thing about tonight is we played all four quarters of lacrosse," GCU scoring leader Patrick Murphy said after finding the back of the net twice and assisting on another winner. "We just wanted it tonight. We just brought all the key components, and we executed every one of them."
