At the first NCAA competition in the program's history this weekend, the Antelopes turned some heads. And while Grand Canyon didn't win the whole thing, the Lopes represented themselves in a way that could have some saying the purple can pin-point the good ones.
Grand Canyon coach Ron Reddic got his team off and rolling with a 16th place, defeating some bigger, more established NCAA Division I schools in the first weekend on the lanes. GCU went 6-9 over the three-day Mid-Winter Invitational weekend hosted by Arkansas State University.
The Antelopes knocked down 10,794 pins. Delaware State won the event, going 11-4, and edging Vanderbilt in bracket play. Vanderbilt, despite knocking down a tournament-best 13,448 pins and posting an 11-4 record, was second.
GCU's Tera Bolton (pictured) finished 65th with a 166.20 average.
