GCU's 4-game MW week could shake up conference standings

Grand Canyon heads to Fresno State for a Wednesday doubleheader before heading home for games Friday and Saturday with Boise State at GCU Softball Stadium.

5 THINGS TO KNOW

GCU is ranked in the Top 25 across most major softball polls (No. 25 in ESPN/USA Softball, No. 20 in NFCA, and No. 23 in D1Softball.) wth the fourth-best best record and winning percentage in the nation.
The Lopes hold a two-game, first-place lead in the Mountain West at 10-2, with Nevada in second place at 8-4.
GCU is No. 29 in the most recent RPI, with the program's highest ranking coming at No. 27 last week.
Graduate left fielder Trinity Martin is riding a hot streak at the plate over the last three weeks of conference play, hitting eight home runs and driving in 21 runs. Martin went 7 for 7 with four home runs in the San José State series. She had a six-RBI Game 2 at Utah State and drove in six of GCU's 10 runs in the Nevada series.
Senior center fielder Sydney McCray has the most stolen bases in the nation without being caught (25) and the eighth-most swiped bags in the country.

SCOUTING FRESNO STATE

Fresno State is 6-6 in conference play and tied for fourth place with Colorado State and New Mexico. It swept San José State on the road last weekend.
The Bulldogs are hitting .291 with a 3.52 ERA.
Grand Canyon and Fresno State have never played.

SCOUTING BOISE STATE

GCU is 1-3 all-time against Boise State, losing the most recent matchup in 2024.
The Broncos are hitting .267 with a team ERA of 4.30.
Boise State is coming off being swept at home by New Mexico. The Broncos only scored five runs all weekend.

LAST TIME OUT

GCU vs NEVADA

GCU dropped its first series of the season, winning one of three games at home against Nevada. The Lopes dropped to 10-2 in conference after starting 10-0.
Each game ended with a 4-3 score.
