Jeremy Price begins his fifth season as Grand Canyon University’s head men’s volleyball coach.
The program, in its seventh season, has seen its greatest success under Price. In 2012, Price’s team went 15-17, earned a No. 4 seed and first-ever home match in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament. Nearly doubling the program’s win total from 2011 (8-24), he was named the 2012 MIVA Coach of the Year.
In 2013, GCU went 17-15 and shocked the MIVA and men’s volleyball world with an upset victory on the road at Ohio State, advancing to the MIVA semifinals for the first time.
In 2014, Price won his 100th career match as a men’s volleyball coach.
Along with leading the Antelopes, Price has been involved with Team USA’s Men’s Junior National Volleyball team. During the summer of 2014, he coached the men’s junior national A2 team (MJA2) at the Olympic Training Facility in Lake Placid, N.Y., in prepping the national team for the World Championships Qualifier in El Salvador. The head coach for the 2014 MJA2 team, Price was an assistant on the team in 2012 and has been associated with the youth or junior national team pipeline since 2007.
Prior to coming to GCU, he coached Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. from 2007-10. He led the team to two Molten Division III national championships in 2007 and 2009 and had an overall record of 54-46. His teams finished in the top four of the final AVCA Division III Men’s Volleyball poll all four seasons, including two first-place finishes and he was named the 2009 AVCA Division III Coach of the Year and the 2009 EIVA Division III Coach of the Year.
From 2000-05, Price coached for the United States Naval Academy and the Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville in 2001. He led Navy to its highest finish ever at the 2000 NIRSA national championships and was named the 2001 Centennial Coach of the Year.
While at Catonsville, his team tied for first in the Maryland JUCO conference and led the team to its highest NJCAA national championship finish. He was named NJCAA Region XX Coach of the Year and NJCAA District F Coach of the Year.
Price began his coaching career at Bowie High School from 1997-2000 as head coach of the girls varsity team. Under his leadership, the school had four Prince George County Champion titles, four 4A South Region titles and was a four-time Maryland State final four participant. Price was named the 1999 Prince George’s Journal Coach of the Year and the 2000 Capitol Gazette Coach of the Year.
He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Maryland and received a Master’s in Athletic Administration from Goucher College in 2007.
Price and his wife, Karen, reside in Phoenix. They have one son, Reagan.
