Kayla Todnem begins her third season at Grand Canyon University, where she is responsible for the multi-events and jumps.
Kayla was named USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Men’s West Region Assistant Coach of the Year after leading the men to two automatic qualifiers in the long jump and three provisional marks in the triple jump. She also oversaw the five long jump qualifiers for the indoor championships, which produced a National Champion in Karlin Stewart and runner-up in Ramon Cooper.
Prior to joining the ‘Lopes, Kayla spent three years as an assistant coach for horizontal jumpers at Glendale Community College. With the Gauchos, she coached numerous multi-eventers and jumpers to the NJCAA national championship, including current ‘Lopes Lesilia Foster and Amber Christenberry.
A native of St. James, Minn., Kayla graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Cloud State University in 2007 with a degree in Special Education. She competed as a heptathletes, hurdler and jumper. She was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the heptathlon and 100-meter hurdles. Kayla spends the majority of her day as a special-education teacher in the Cartwright School District.
