The Grand Canyon women's cross country and track and field teams signed distance runner Hana Hall of Flagstaff, Arizona, on Wednesday, Lopes head coaches Tom Flood and Sara Slattery announced.
"We are so excited to have Hana as a part of the Lope family," Slattery said. "She is a tremendous talent with an amazing work ethic. Having that combination is key to being successful long-term in the sport. She will make an impact right away with our team, and we plan to surround her with some other talented recruits next year. We are really looking forward to her future as a Lope." Slattery and Hall
Hall comes to GCU from Flagstaff High School, where she earned all-state accolades for cross country in 2018 when she was the Division II state cross country champion and a Nike Cross Country Nationals qualifier. She ran in several events, including 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
Hall comes from a talented track and field family, as both her mother, Sara, and father, Ryan, competed in U.S. Olympic Trials. Her father made it to the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and was the first American to break an hour in the half marathon with a time of 59 minutes, 43 seconds.
Hall's favorite sports moment thus far was qualifying for Nike Nationals last year in Phoenix because it was such a competitive meet and a major goal for her to achieve.
