Malorie Rutledge enters her fourth year with the Lopes in 2019 and was hired by Derek Leader and GCU in February of 2016. Rutledge was most recently a Division I assistant coach at Georgia State and had an award-winning playing career at LSU.

In her three seasons at GCU, Rutledge worked with four-time All-WAC selection McKenzie Cook, who was named to the first team in her final two seasons with the Lopes.

In just her brief time coaching, Rutledge has done an exceptional job of molding college soccer players. Rutledge comes from Georgia State, where she worked with Leader for four seasons. Rutledge help rebuild the Georgia State program that improved the Panthers' RPI from 235 in 2013 to 95 in 2015. The Panthers were one of two Non-SEC teams to be ranked in the top 10 in the Southern Region. During her time at Georgia State, Rutledge coached the first two NSCAA All-South Region players in program history. In just their second year in the Sun Belt Conference, the Panthers finished as runner-up to No. 22 South Alabama in the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Prior to her arrival at Georgia State, Rutledge spent one year as the assistant coach with the Pittsburgh women's soccer team and has also spent time coaching the U16 Region 3 Olympic Development Team. Before deciding to become a coach, Rutledge played for the Philadelphia Independence of the Women's Professional Soccer League in the spring of 2010 but made the decision to retire after sustaining her fourth career knee injury.

Rutledge had an illustrious career at LSU where she was a three-time All-American and a three-time All-SEC first-team selection. She was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009 and also selected to the Hermann Trophy watch list in 2008 and 2009.

As a world-class midfielder and one of the most prolific scorers in the game during her career, Rutledge wrapped up her collegiate career as LSU's all-time leader in assists (46), points (102), game-winning goals (12) and career starts (88). She currently ranks No. 2 all-time in Southeastern Conference history in career assists and her 28 goals rank fourth on LSU's all-time career list. Rutledge was a member of the most successful senior class in the history of the LSU soccer program, helping guide the Tigers to three SEC Western Division championships and three NCAA tournament appearances in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
