Joao Vieira enters his second season with the women’s soccer program as a Graduate Assistant. He is currently studying to get his Master of Business Administration after getting his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education: Athletic Coaching from GCU in 2011.
Vieira’s coaching experience includes head coaching posts at Anson Elementary School in Marshalltown, Iowa, a youth soccer program in Des Moines and at Tetra Brazil Soccer Academy.
He first played collegiately at Marshalltown Community College, where his 2007 team placed third in the NJCAA Division I National Soccer Tournament. His MCC squad was the Region XI Champions, Missouri Junior College Invitational Champions and Great Lakes District Champions in 2007. He was also named First Team All-Region that same season.
He joined the ‘Lopes soccer team in 2009, during which he started 20 games and collected two goals, an assist and six points. Vieira was named a 2010 Preseason All-PacWest Team selection. He garnered PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll honors for games contested Sept. 13-19, 2010 and was placed on the All-PacWest First Team following the season after tying for fourth in the conference with six assists and fifth with 0.35 assists per game. He started each of the team’s 17 games during his senior campaign in 2010.
