Dillon Porter begins his second season as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University after being named the 2012 PacWest Assistant Coach of the Year.
Porter brings an impressive tennis resume with him to GCU. He was born and raised in Laie, Hawai’i and attended BYU-Hawai’i. With the Seasiders, Porter was the ITA West Region Rookie of the Year and was twice named his team’s Most Valuable Player. He was awarded the coveted Seasider Award as the University’s top male student athlete. In addition, Porter was selected as the ITA West Region Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recipient. He finished as high as seventh in the national rankings in singles and fifth in doubles.
Porter is also a certified United States Professional Tennis Association Professional 1, with coaching experience at the USPTA World Headquarters in Houston, Tex. and as the Director of Junior Tennis in Salt Lake City, Utah.
