FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Grand Canyon women's basketball dropped its first contest in over two weeks Wednesday, snapping a three-game skid at the hands of Colorado State at Moby Arena.
The final score read 67-50, the 50 points being the lowest for the Lopes since its last meeting against the Rams Dec. 31.
Freshman
Ines Zounia led the squad with 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field and a perfect 3 of 3 beyond the arc. The reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Week has now scored 41 points over her last three games.
A matchup that featured two of the top four teams in the Mountain West, GCU (6-13, 5-4 MW) trailed Colorado State (16-4, 7-2 MW) 17-13 after one. Zounia scored eight of her 13 points in the first quarter, knocking down a pair of treys to open the scoring.
The Rams outscored the Lopes 19-9 in the second quarter, 12 points coming from behind the three-point line.
The Lopes totaled a 30.2% clip from the field for the game, third lowest this season and finished 18% in the third quarter to trail 54-32 at quarter's end. GCU outscored the Rams 18-13 in the fourth, highlighted by an 8-0 run in the middle of the quarter, but CSU's lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.
It was the first game since Dec. 28 the Lopes shot under 70% from the free throw line with 10 or more attempts from the charity stripe. Both teams entered top two in the Mountain West in free throw percentage, and both teams faired to a 61% mark from the line.

Chloe Mann dished out six assists, her third game over her last four with at least six assists in a game. Senior
Karley Johnson grabbed a career high 12 rebounds and classmate
Anisa Jeffries scored 10 points with three rebounds.
The Lopes return home and host Boise State Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. GCU will be hosting Girl Scout Cookie Takeover, with live coverage of the game on Arizona's Family Channel 3 and Mountain West Network.
