GCU hosts Girl Scout Cookie Tip-off for pivotal MW game

Grand Canyon welcomes Boise State for a Saturday home contest at Global Credit Union Arena, where the Girl Scout Cookie Tip-off will make Girl Scout Cookies available for sale prior to the game.

AT A GLANCE

GCU faces Boise State for the second time this season after the Lopes won the first contest 87-76 in Boise for the Broncos' only home loss this season. No Boise State opponent has scored more against the Broncos this season.
While its three-game win streak was snapped Wednesday, GCU has won five of its last eight.
Freshman guard Ines Zounia sparked the GCU offense over the last few games, totaling 41 points and 11 rebounds with seven made 3-pointers. Zounia has recorded six double-digit scoring games in MW play.
GCU has limited opponents' offensive boards this season, outrebounding them 208-173 with a 104-86 advantage in MW play.
Lopes senior forward Anisa Jeffries is sixth in the conference in steals per game, averaging 1.8. Jeffries has recorded a steal in seven of her last eight games and has nine multi-steal games this season.
GCU senior guard Karley Johnson pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds at Colorado State for her second double digit rebounding performance of the season. She is one of four players to have double digit rebounding games for the Lopes. Johnson is averaging 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the floor in Mountain West play.
GCU forces 17 turnovers per game, fourth most in the conference. Only once has it forced single-digit turnovers in a game, and GCU has 11 games with 17 or more forced turnovers.
The conference's leading free throw shooter belongs to the Lopes in Chloe Mann, who is 35th in the nation at 86.7%. Mann has made 21 of 25 attempts in MW play.

THIS GAME

The Lopes head home for a Saturday afternoon contest at Global Credit Union Arena against Boise State at 1 p.m.
GCU enters fifth in the MW standings (5-4), while Boise State is fourth at 6-3. A win would propel GCU to a top-four spot, owning tiebreakers over Boise State and New Mexico.
The Lopes have won three out of their last four overall and look to make it three straight at home.

SCOUTING BOISE STATE

Boise State enters Saturday on a five-game winning streak, owning a 15-5 overall record and 6-3 mark in MW play.
Its last loss came at the hands of GCU in Boise, its only home loss in 12 games. Boise State is 2-4 on the road.
The Broncos rank fifth in the nation in 3-point percentage (38.9%). Natalie Pasco is sixth overall and leads the MW in 3-point percentage at 46.3%, averaging 2.5 makes per game.
Boise State has one of the top MW scorers in Tatum Thompson, the preseason Mountain West Player of the Year. Thompson is averaging 14.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, both fourth best in the conference. Thompson also leads the conference in made free throws (73) and is second in the MW in field goal percentage (45.9%).
The Broncos have allowed 60 or more points once in their five-game winning streak, with double-digit wins in three of five games. The Lopes' 87 points against the Broncos on Jan. 3 are the most by any opponent BSU this season.
