Grand Canyon enters its 10th and final regular-season tournament this weekend in the Valley and aims to keep its top-10 streak alive in a stacked field that includes seven top-50 teams.
GCU heads to Papago Golf Club in Phoenix for the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, with two rounds Friday and the final round on Saturday.
The Lopes finished in the top 10 in each of the past nine tournaments, five of which have resulted in top-five finishes. GCU's record is 97-36-1, with a 27-16 showing over its past three tournaments.
GCU consistently has been near the top 55 of the Clippd Scoreboard rankings this spring, entering with a No. 54 tag ahead of the final regular-season outing before the WAC Championship in Payson, Arizona, on April 25-27. Arizona State, the host, enters as the event's top team at No. 5, followed by UCLA at No. 10.
The field also includes No. 14 Utah, No. 33 Colorado, No. 41 Houston, No. 47 USC, No. 49 New Mexico, No. 65 Loyola Marymount and No. 98 Oregon State.
GCU's starting five will be the same as last tournament, when the Lopes placed ninth out of 23 schools in the Cowboy Classic on April 1 in Maricopa, Arizona. GCU will start graduate
