The Grand Canyon men's golf team ended its regular season by placing fifth Saturday at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate in Phoenix.
Facing a tournament field featuring seven top-50 teams, GCU outplayed three of them with a 20-under-par tournament at Pagago Golf Club. Host Arizona State won the tournament while the Lopes finished a stroke ahead of No. 41 Houston, four strokes ahead of No. 10 UCLA and eight strokes ahead of No. 47 USC.

Tommaso Zorzetto tied for ninth with a 7-under tournament that included three under-par rounds. He shot a 1 under on Saturday, when he sank four birdies on the back nine.Â

Nixon Lauritzen recorded the team's best final round, shooting 2 under on Saturday to finish 1 under for the tournament. Lauritzen played his final 10 holes at 3 under par to tied for 32nd overall with sophomore teammate
Gavin O'Neill, who parred the final eight holes Saturday.
GCU's next highest finisher to Zorzetto was freshman
Matthew Diehl, who tied for 28th at 2 under par. Diehl, who shot 1 over, senior teammate
Kiko Coelho, who was even Saturday, each birdied the 14th and 15th holes to help boost GCU to fifth place. Coelho landed in a 38th-place tie with a tournament score of 1 over.
Next, the two-time defending WAC champions will pursue a three-peat when the WAC Championship returns to The Golf Club at Chaparral Pines in Payson, Arizona, on April 25-27.
