Lopes drop road match at NAU

GCU returns home next weekend for final home matches
Grand Canyon (8-7) struggled on the road against a strong Northern Arizona (10-3) squad, falling 7-0 on Thursday at the NAU Tennis Center in Flagstaff.
Despite a promising start in doubles, the Lopes were unable to capitalize in singles play. Gala Arangio and Karina Hofbauer secured a 6-4 victory on Court 1, but NAU answered back with wins on Courts 2 and 3 to take the doubles point.
In singles, NAU controlled the match from the start. Daryna Shoshyna took down Hofbauer 7-5, 6-1 on Court 1, while Patryc Niewiadomska defeated Arangio 6-3, 6-1 on Court 2. Elen Jantacova sealed the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 result against Bella Crossman on Court 4.
NAU completed the sweep with wins on the final three courts, as Laura Duhl finished with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Dania Deaifi on Court 3, Ruslana Kovalenko defeated Peyton Duckett (6-3, 6-1) and Leontina Stojanovic edged out Angelina Mihajlovic in a third-set tiebreak (2-6, 6-3, 10-6).
The Lopes will look to regroup as they return home next weekend for their final two home matches of the season. They face WAC opponents Seattle and Utah Tech.
