PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team placed 11th among 21 teams after Monday's final round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic Monday afternoon at Monterey Country Club.
Six participating teams were ranked in the top 50 of the Clippd Scoreboard rankings. No. 5 Oregon took first at 34 under, defeating No. 3 USC by 23 strokes. No. 44 Pepperdine placed third at 11 over.
GCU shot 34 over with an 8-over final round that was seventh best in the field.
Sophomore
Brenna Preap finished best for the Lopes, earning 23rd with a 5-over, 54-hole scorecard. She shot 1 under Monday with only one bogey, sinking birdies on two of her final five holes. She had six birdies for the tournament and 39 pars, tied for sixth most in the 120-player field.
The Lopes totaled 170 pars, eighth best for the tournament. The squad shot 2 over on par-5 holes, fifth best in total.
GCU senior
Anci Dy went 9 over for the tournament, shooting a 2-over 73 on Monday. Dy had a team-best three birdies in the final round and shot 1 under over her final eight holes to finish 40th.
Lopes sophomore
Lena Tremouille placed 50th at 11 over, followed by classmate
Jess Haines (80th, 18 over) and graduate
Calynne Rosholt (83rd, 20 over).
The Lopes will take the week to gear up for the annual GCU Invitational, hosted at GCU Golf Course on February 25-26.
