As postseason award season begins in the men's college soccer landscape, Grand Canyon forward
Junior Diouf's name has circulated among the best awards.

The most prestigious college soccer award has now added the Lopes freshman's name to its list.
United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club announced 15 semifinalists for MAC Hermann Trophy, given to college soccer's best player since 1967. Diouf is one of just two first-year players on the list.
Three men's finalists will be named Dec. 17 after voting by Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The MAC Hermann Trophy winner will be announced at a press conference at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 9, followed by a dinner to celebrate the finalists.
Diouf enters the weekend as the nation's leader in goals (18) and is tied for first in points (42). Only North Carolina State's Donavan Phillip is active among the top 10 goal scorers this season at 17 goals. Diouf is looking to become the first freshman to lead the nation in goals since Conor Casey of Portland in 1999.
GCU's No. 9 was instrumental to a Lopes team that finished with the second-most wins of the program's D-I era, tied for most wins at GCU Stadium (nine) and helped guide the team to the Sweet 16, the furthest the program has gone since becoming eligible for the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2017.
Diouf is the first Lope to be a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and joins Niki Jackson and Justin Rasmussen as one of three Lopes to be named to the overall watch list.
