With only four weekends remaining in the regular season, Grand Canyon finds itself in familiar position: vying for a WAC regular-season title. The Lopes are tied atop the standings with 12 conference games remaining, including a three-game set at Seattle U beginning on Friday at 4 p.m.

3 THINGS TO KNOW
- RARE SEATTLE TRIP: Due to conference membership shifts, a pandemic and happenstance, the Lopes are making their first trip to Seattle U since 2018. GCU swept that series at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Washington, wrapping up a second consecutive regular-season title. The last 13 meetings in the series have been played at Brazell Field.
- STREAKS: The Lopes have continued to build upon a long track record of WAC success. GCU has won 11 consecutive WAC series dating back to last season. The success has translated onto the road as well, with the Lopes having won 17 consecutive conference road series dating back to 2021. Overall, the Lopes have won 24 of their last 26 conference series.
- CONFERENCE STANDINGS: GCU and California Baptist remain tied atop the WAC standings entering the weekend at 13-5. Two games back of the co-leaders, 11-7 Abilene Christian and Utah Valley are tied for third place. Following the Lopes' weekend at Seattle U, the remaining nine games are against the other three teams in the top-four spots of the WAC standings.
SCOUTING SEATTLE U
The Redhawks are coming off of a successful 2023 conference slate, going 17-13 to finish fourth in the standings. Seattle U lost both of its WAC tournament games and is 12-28 and 6-12 in the WAC in 2024.
Seattle U is coming off of a three-game sweep at Stephen F. Austin last weekend, outscoring the Lumberjacks 41-12 in the series.
The Redhawks are coached by 15th-year skipper Donny Harrel. Senior utility man Derek Gellos leads all WAC batters with a mark of .379.
WHAT'S NEXT?
