Puehse, Adamovic headline All-WAC honors

Puehse wins player of year for 3rd time; Adamovic wins coach of year
Grand Canyon women's tennis was heavily featured in All-WAC voting that was released by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
For the third time in her decorated Lopes career, graduate Natasha Puehse was named the WAC Player of the Year. Second-year Lopes head coach Katarina Adamovic was named the WAC Coach of the Year for the first time.
Joining Puehse and Adamovic with awards recognition, the Lopes had three players named to the first team All-WAC singles team: Puehse, senior Santa Strombacha and freshman Elizaveta Morozova.
Additionally, the dynamic doubles duo of Puehse and Strombacha were named to the conference's first team for doubles.Â
Puehse checks in at No. 113 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings for Division I women's tennis singles players. She adds the 2024 WAC Player of the Year honor to her resume that also includes the same award in 2022 as a junior and in 2021 as a sophomore.
This season, Puehse has represented the Lopes well on the top singles and doubles courts. She finished the regular season 16-2 in singles with all her matches coming on Court 1. She has accumulated 64 singles wins in her GCU career which is currently tied for the program's all-time record.
Adamovic has not only continued the success of the GCU women's tennis program, she has built upon the foundation in 2023-24. The Lopes carry an impressive 19-2 overall record and went a perfect 7-0 in conference play.
Adamovic's Lopes are also sitting at No. 63 in the ITA national rankings. She led GCU to a WAC regular-season title with sights set on another tournament title.
Strombacha added to her long list of accomplishments as a Lope by earning first-team All-WAC honors in singles for the third straight season. On Court 2, Strombacha went 17-1 overall and 6-1 in WAC play. She enters the conference tournament on a five-match winning streak.
The third-year doubles team of Strombacha and Puehse earned All-WAC first-team honors for the third time. The duo went 17-3 on the top court and 6-1 in conference play.
Morozova provided a look into the program's future by landing on the first team for singles as a freshman. She went 13-2 in her rookie campaign and a perfect 7-0 in WAC play. Morozova played primarily on Court 4 but also saw action on the third, fifth and sixth courts. She carries a nine-match winning streak in singles into the conference tournament.
The Lopes take the No. 1 seed into the WAC Tournament and are looking to repeat as champions. GCU opens tournament play against Utah Tech on Thursday at 10 a.m. in Harlingen, Texas, in a match that is streamed on ESPN+.
