The Grand Canyon track and field team continues to wow in the start of the outdoor season after claiming three more WAC weekly honors.
Lopes senior
Erin Brown is the WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after running the conference's fastest times in the 100-meter dash (10.35 seconds) and 200-meter dash (20.70 seconds) at last weekend's Willie Williams Classic in Tucson. The Texas native's 100 mark is the 14th fastest in the West Region. In addition, Brown ran a leg of the conference's fastest 400 relay, which GCU ran in 39.91 seconds.
GCU junior
Taryn Burkett took her second consecutive WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor after strengthening her conference-leading performance of 12.81 meters in the triple jump at the Willie Williams Classic. The mark is 12th best nationally.
Lopes graduate student
Israel Oloyede won WAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor after a hammer throw of 69.85 meters in Tucson. The mark is the best in the conference this season and seventh best nationally.
GCU's outdoor season continues this week with the historic Texas Relays taking place in Austin.
