COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho – Grand Canyon posted the tournament's second-best score over the second and third rounds to climb to a fifth-place finish Tuesday at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational in Idaho.
The Lopes used a 4-under team score in the final round to wind up one stroke behind third-place finishers Seattle U and Gonzaga at the 13-team event. GCU played the final two rounds at 1 over cumulatively to move up from Sunday's 10th-place status after the first round.

Carly Strole led the Lopes' effort for the second straight day.
Shosted posted the second-lowest final round with a 3-under 68 that was capped by an 18th-hole birdie. The Mesa Mountain View High School graduate made a huge in-tournament turnaround, going from a first-round 80 to finishing rounds of 70 and 68 that boosted the Lopes and vaulted her to a tie for 22nd place.
Strole was GCU's high finisher, tying for 13th place after moving up six spots Tuesday with a 2-under round of 69. The Goodyear Millennium High School graduate birdied two of her final four holes to record Tuesday's sixth-best round.

Ryan Flynn tied for 25th place at 6 over. Guerrero shot her best round of the tournament (even-par 71) while Flynn matched her Monday round of 72 by carding birdies on the first hole of each nine.
The GCU lineup was rounded out by senior
Becca Tschetter, who was 8 over on Tuesday and tied for 64th in the tournament at 20 over.
The Lopes are back in action next Tuesday at the two-day Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in Lakewood, Washington.

Leighton Shosted made a 10-stroke improvement from the first round to help GCU finish the second round at 5 over par, which only trailed tournament leaders UC Davis and Seattle U on Monday. Overall, the Lopes moved from 10th place to sixth place in the 13-team event and are only four strokes behind fourth-place San Francisco.

Ryan Flynn each birdied the final hole Monday to boost the team into sixth place and give the GCU trio a combined score of even par at the 6,028-yard, par-71 Couer d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
Shosted's 1-under round was backed by Strole moving into a tie for 19th place in the tournament by shooting an even-par 71 on Monday, when she sank five birdies. Strole has played the par-five holes at 4 under for the tournament.
In a 73-player tournament field, Flynn moved up six spots to a tie for 26th by firing a 1-over 72 in the second round while senior teammate
Constanza Guerrero is not far behind in 29th. Guerrero began Monday with a birdie to move into the top 15, but finished at 5 over for the day.

Becca Tschetter rounds out the traveling group in a tie for 57th after her second-round score of 79.
The tournament finishes Tuesday with the Lopes teeing off between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. for the final round.

GCU concluded Day 1 of the three-day Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational on Sunday with a team score of 13 over par for 10th place out of 13 teams.
Host Gonzaga was the lone team to have an even scorecard through 18 holes, followed by second-place San Francisco (3 over) and third-place UC Davis (4 over). GCU is only seven shots back of a top-five placement.

Constanza Guerrero shot best for the Lopes with a 1-over Sunday. She had three birdies, including two on the back nine to be in a tie for 15th place.

GCU recorded 55 pars, tying for second most among the 13-team field. Guerrero was one of seven players to have an under-par scorecard on par-4 holes.
The Lopes continue with the second round on Monday before the tournament concludes with the third round on Tuesday.
